Customer Spotlight: Miami Parking

How did you get into parking?

It’s actually kind of strange! I was a professor before. My specialty was communications. I was doing private consulting for the last decade. I happen to know the CCO of Miami Parking who had to write a letter for the CEO and she asked if I could help her. The CEO asked who wrote it and wanted to meet me. I went in and met everyone, helped rebrand, and then started full time, leaving teaching behind. There is some fulfillment in teaching others how to use your skill. It is a different kind of fulfillment to use all of your skills.   

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Being the solution to what a lot of properties view as a problem. We aren’t just parking. We offer other hospitality items. Building the trust and relationship with a client turns in to lifelong partnerships. They don’t have to worry about being taken care of because we take care of them. We also help them with their data. They don’t need to worry about that. And it allows us to hire and grow. 

How do TEZ products make your job easier?

A lot of our prospective clients in an initial one on one share a concern – how do I know this is worthwhile, how do I know how much revenue I am getting, how do I know how long someone worked. Knowledge is power. And TEZ allows us that power to allow us to make decisions in terms of how we can help customers make adjustments to costs and efficiencies. We aren’t flying blind because we have data. We don’t have to guess which can cause a client spending more than they need. I really like TEZLENZ. There are a lot of benefits to it. I can really look at our overall operation to see how many cars, how much revenue, etc. TEZLENZ is really helpful for hotels so that you can see where customers are coming from so you know what the culture and expectations of the customers may be.   

Can you point to a business improvement you have made because you are using data to drive your decisions?

We have worked with clients to add shifts based on traffic as an example. With new clients, they come to me and say they don’t know what their revenue is. I just know what my bill is. After 30-60 days I can map it out for them, show them trends.   

What is the future product you want to see?

I want to use AI to extract data. I want to ask it to tell me to run trends for a period of time. I know this is a massive undertaking.

What is your favorite animal? Sharks. I love penguins too. They are adorable. 

Who is your favorite band/singer? Frank Sinatra.

If you had to eat the same food, what would you have? Sushi.

What is your ideal day off?

Go to the Keys. It is my happy place. We have always gone growing up and my family has a house there. It is doing nothing, but doing nothing in a significantly beautiful place.   

As a kid, what were your job aspirations? 

Being a lawyer. Even went to law school. I did two years. I had been teaching throughout and in my last year realized it wouldn’t make me happy.

✔ Post valet charges automatically or manually to a guest's folio.

At TEZ, we’re always investing and striving to improve. TEZPARK continues to evolve with new features and enhanced functionality that give operators more control, flexibility, and branding options.

Below are the latest enhancements now available in the platform designed to help you tailor the parking experience to each unique location.

Location-Level White Labeling
You can now customize the look and feel of each TEZPARK location with your unique branding elements. Set up a location-specific logo, add a header and footer color, allowing for a more customized guest experience that aligns with the identity of each location.

Grace Period Configuration by Location
Operators can now define grace periods down to the hours and minutes at the individual location level. This enables the ability to offer pre-defined free parking periods that work in conjunction with each location’s active rate structure, adding more flexibility for short-term visitors and controlled enforcement.

Rico Henderson

Rico Henderson plays a key role in supporting TEZ customers as an Account Manager. He focuses on building strong relationships with our existing clients and helping drive success through his personilzed support and collaboration. Rico works closely with the sales and marketing teams to ensure a smooth onboarding and a seemless transition throughout the customer journey.

How did you get into Parking?

Craigslist had an ad out for a parking attendant at a hospital in Tennessee in 2012. Needed a low-maintenance job. Applied. I was in a booth accepting money, validations, etc all throughout my later high school career. It was the best job before TEZ.

How long have you been at TEZ?

Coming up on a year!

What do you love about working at TEZ?

The ever changing of a day with the well-rounded, well-balanced, eclectic group of men and women. Everyone’s day is different, but personalities are all similar. I love being able to be in situations where I am talking to people and bringing in others to get their perspective. I feel like we are a small army on the same side holding things down.

What is your favorite product we offer and why?

I love SMS Valet. I think the ticketless solution that we offer our customers is more of a gem than they know. When I was in operations, when it came to claims, it was the worst feeling in the world. I would have to dig through tickets and surveys, and interview being a detective to piece it all together. The fact that it is all on our SMS Valet platform makes it so easy. And we can text that information. It is full transparency.

What is your favorite fast food restaurant and order?

I am going to go with Shake Shack. Getting a shakeburger and fries and a vanilla shake is all I need. I will get that order, eat the fries, then the burger, then the shake is my dessert.

What is your favorite Denzel Movie?

Remember the Titans.

Would you rather: 
Ocean or Woods? Ocean. Not a fan of cruises but like being next to water.
Pepperoni or Sausage ? Easy.  Pepperoni.
If you had to be a circus act performer, would you tame lions or be on the trapeze?  Give me Mufasa.

Who most inspires you besides Denzel?

My grandmother. She still inspires me every day even though she is not with us anymore. She was very caring and very open. She had a green thumb. We bowled and played basketball together. She accepted me whether I failed or succeeded.
